Mrs. Sue Mulder
I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in a family of ten children. I have six sisters and three brothers and more nieces and nephews than I can count. My husband, Terry, and I celebrated 32 years of marriage this past year and we have three beautiful children. Our oldest daughter, Kelsey, graduated from Georgia Southern with a degree in public relations. She is living and working in Dallas, Texas. Our middle child, Erica, graduated from UGA with her undergrad degree and Valdosta State with her master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology. She is working at Ocee Elementary School. Our youngest family member is our son, Nathan, who graduated from Georgia Tech. He and his wife, Olivia, were married in November and are now living in Chicago, Illinois. Yes, we are certainly a house divided between Georgia Southern, UGA, and GT.
I have my bachelor's degree from Calvin College in Grand Rapids and my master's degree from the University of South Florida. I am in my twenty-third year of teaching and during those twenty-three years, I have been in different locations and different grade levels. Every grade is exciting to teach and that's why I love teaching ESOL because I get to work with every elementary grade level. We moved to the Atlanta area in 2008 from Charlotte, NC where I taught first grade for five years. I started at Barnwell as a long term substitute teacher in fourth grade. I was hired and taught fifth grade the following year and then taught pre-k the year after that. During my year in pre-k, I got my endorsement in ESOL and was hired to teach the EL students in 2011-2012. This is my ninth year teaching ESOL and I love it. I love the students with whom I work. They are all so eager to learn the language and to do well in school. I am very thankful to be a part of the Barnwell family! |
